The hottest summer fun happens right here at DDF NYC!

Join Downtown Dance Factory’s Summer Program and make this the best summer ever.

Recognized by Time Out New York Kids as “Best Summer Camps for Kids, NYC”, our Summer Program runs for eight dance-filled weeks from late June to mid-August right out of our sunny studio complex on Broadway. Each week-long session offers your child a wide variety of dance and creative arts, including sessions in jazz, hip hop, theater dance, tap, breaking, lyrical and so much more. Flexible enrollment allows you to register for one week, eight weeks, or anything in between.

  • Register early (by April 1st) for the early-bird discount.
  • Register for two or more weeks for a 5% discount off the 2nd and subsequent weeks.
  • Register a sibling in the same week for a 5% discount off the 2nd and subsequent child.
  • Note that prorates will apply as follows:
    • Week 1 can be prorated for dancers still in public school until June 26th.
    • Week 2 will be pro-rated to 3 days for July 4th (& 5th) closure.

Full-Day ProgramKindergarten - 8th grade

Each week, our Full-Day dancers experience classes in a wide range of genres including jazz, hip hop, tap, lyrical, theater dance, breakdancing and choreography. Dancers are divided into age-based groups, and no experience is necessary. Friday’s mini-showcase celebration sees dancers show off their brand new skills for their grown-ups!

Intensive ProgramAdvanced dancers & teens

Full day, full out! Our summer intensive program is designed for teens and serious dancers to continue their high-level training ensuring progression in artistry and technique through the summer months. Masterclasses include: jazz, ballet, contemporary, lyrical, floor work, conditioning, hip hop and improvisation. Classes are taught by DDF and special guest faculty from NYC and beyond.

Preschool Program3-5 years

Half-Day dancers enjoy a selection of our classes aimed at preschoolers – hip hop, jazz, tap and creative movement – together with dance-related crafts, songs, story-telling and dress-ups. It’s a recipe for entertaining and active summer fun!

Summer Tots18-36 months

Weekly TutuTots classes, our popular program for budding dancers that little ones take along with their parent or caregiver, are a blend of ballet, jazz, creative movement and fun dance-based games. Note: Options available for twice weekly classes at a 20% discount, or fitting multiple sessions into fewer weeks.

Summer Program FAQs:

The Half-Day Program is open to children from 3 to 5 years old (age as of the start of their program) who are not yet entering kindergarten in September. Dancers must be potty trained. The Full-Day Program is open to dancers entering kindergarten, or older, in the fall. The Full-Day Program age range is elementary school through middle school.

9am-12pm. Half-day participants must bring a peanut & nut free non-perishable snack.

9am-3pm. Full day participants must bring a peanut & nut free non-perishable snack and lunch. We do not have refrigeration.

Fees vary depending on the age group. Also some weeks are pro-rated due to holidays. Please click above on Schedule & Registration for the group that you are joining to see each week/group’s associated fees.

No. We don’t need a medical form from your doctor. However, if your child has any allergies, or requires special accommodations, all details should be listed in your account within your parent portal (click on “BILLING & PAYMENTS” and then “STUDENTS” to add or update any medical details) or send us an email and we’ll add it for you. Please note, Downtown Dance Factory is not certified to administer medicine. If you are registering for the first time, these details can also be added when filling out the registration form.

Dancers will be divided into groups according to age and grade. Feel free to send “friend requests” via email.

You will receive an email before the start of each week letting you know which group and studio your dancer is in. Please look out for this email and go directly to your assigned studio upon arrival. Students should be dropped off between 9:00 and 9:15am each morning (but please, no earlier than 9am).

There is no uniform for the Summer Program. Dancers should wear comfortable clothes (leotard, shorts/tank) which allow easy movement. While we understand that not all students have ballet, tap or jazz/dance shoes, if your child does have these, they should bring them along. Sneakers should be worn for hip hop. While not required for this program, all shoes are available for purchase at our Studio 4 Store, as is a full range of fun dancewear. Please label everything.

Yes, our Studio 4 Store is open daily for your dancewear needs. All items can be pre-purchased online and picked up by your dancer on their first day (or in advance of their summer week). Please note: we cannot process any sales at Studio 4 Store on Monday mornings.

Dancers should be picked up between 11:50 and 12pm (AM half day dancers) or between 2:45 and 3:00pm (full day dancers) each afternoon.

We need you to tell us who is authorized to pick up your child. All authorized individuals need to be added to your account within your parent portal (click on “BILLING & PAYMENTS” and then “CONTACTS” to add contacts or to make updates) or just send us an email and we’ll add them for you. You must advise us of any changes, including late drop-off/absence, early pick-ups, emergency contacts, new pick-up authorizations.

Our summer Friday showcases are a chance for your dancer to share a taste of what they have learned throughout the week. Please join us for a pre-pick up, end of week show on Fridays. We will let you know the time of the show during the week (either 1:30 or 2:15pm).

Summer Fees A $100 non-refundable deposit per week will be charged at the time of registration. The balance of summer fees will be charged on June 1st. If registering after June 1st, you will be charged in full. There are no refunds for withdrawals from the Summer Program, nor are there refunds or make-ups for any absences.

Summer Discounts Registration for the Summer Program opens in early February. If you register by April 1st, you receive a 15% discount on summer tuition. If you register for 2 or more weeks, you save 5% on the 2nd week and on each subsequent week. In addition, save 5% for siblings registered in the same week. Discounts will be applied to your account after you register.

Summer Session Transferability Sessions are interchangeable, space permitting. However classes are not transferable among dancers.

Trials We cannot offer any trials during the Half-Day or Full-Day Summer Program. Classes for our TutuTots dancers are available for trials.

Make-ups We cannot offer any make-ups for the Half-Day or Full-Day Summer Program. Make-up classes are available for our TutuTots dancers, space permitting, but they cannot be rolled over into the next semester.

Attire There is no uniform for the Summer Program. Students should wear comfortable clothing and sneakers. Dance clothing and shoes (jazz, ballet, tap) can be purchased at our retail store but are optional.

Dismissal Dancers who have permission to leave on their own require parent/guardian authorization. Please click here to provide authorization.

Photo Release Downtown Dance Factory may, in the course of teaching classes and putting on performances, take photographs and/or video which include our enrolled students. If you DO NOT want your child to be included in Downtown Dance Factory advertising / promotional materials / website, etc., please send us an email. We will mark it in your family account.
